say 4 and a half
While the music doesn't have quite the confidence of the later shows that mark the record's release-it is, as we've come to expect from Guster, a lot of fun. Of the two recordings offered by the archive, this is the better source, IMHO-a little louder, a little crisper-though it does feel like the audience is still muted. This is most notable when there's audience participation such as "dirty, so so dirty" in "Airport Song" and the shouting of "you are not the same" during the bridge of Ben Folds' "Not the Same." This show is not as revealing as the pre-Lost and Gone Forever shows, though. Those illustrated how much the songs on that album evolved whereas the Keep it Together tracks were finalized by this point. Still, a great recording, great show, Guster seems to be at their best this year and getting even better. Many thanks to the taper of this show, the tapers of all the shows from the tour and the archive for spreading them around.
